WordPress is very expandable thanks to its extensive support for plugins that can modify the behavior of WordPress in a variety of ways, and the shear volume of plugins available.
The biggest problem with plugins though is finding one that does exactly what you need it to do. There are really good ones out there, and there are really bad ones. And many plugin authors create plugins that do what they need it to do, but then fail to include other features that other webmasters and sign designers might need.
