Users coming back

How are you able to get users to come back to your page? I'm curious to know if you offer something, or if your page is just wonderful. I personally don't know since my site it still pretty new. I'm hoping that someone would be able to help me out.

Community, New Content or Be a Reference

I've found three different things are effective at bringing people back to a website:

  1. Build a Community - Usually in the form of a forum or discussion board or a Q&A website, a community can be a great way to attract and retain vistors.
  2. Constantly Add New Content - Adding new content on a regular basis that appeals to your target market is also a great way to bring people back. If they like what they saw earlier, they usually will be interested in seeing what is new.
  3. Be a Reference - If your have information that can be used as a reference, that people will want to refer to again and again, this is also a way to keep people coming back. It has to be something useful and reusable though, not something they would only need once.

Using a combination of these will multiply the effect.

I spend a lot of time in the beginning to create a community that offers the user something. Some kind of valuable content only available on your site, and that is constantly updated/added to. That way they join the forum for some content they like, and keep coming back for more and new stuff. Either it's different guides or downloadable resources, everything works.
