Do you prefer hosted apps, or self-hosting?

A lot of companies are starting to offer software-as-a-service (SaaS) with a subscription model, rather than allow you to download your own copy of their software and host it yourselves.

As an end-user or corporate user, do you prefer using a hosted app, or a self-hosted one on your own server?

I prefer hosted apps, because there is less for me to maintain, and there is a whole staff there to fix things if something does wrong.

Self-hosted open source. It

Self-hosted open source. It gives us the ability to customize the code, and if the company goes out of business, we can maintain the code ourselves.

Mixed Emotions

I have mixed emotions about that actually. I prefer self-hosted scripts and apps, because I have more control over the configuration, and usually can modify them to suit out needs. But there are so many great apps and hosted services out there, that using a hosted app sometimes makes sense.

I definitely prefer self

I definitely prefer self hosting. It gives me all the control I need and I am also hard to trust companies with my websites, to be honest.
