A script installation utility is an application or software that is designed to make it easier for you to install scripts and web apps, including blogging software, content management systems (CMS), ecommerce software, picture galleries and more.
More advanced utilities will attempt to keep your script or web app up-to-date by either automatically installing updates or alerting you that your script is out-of-date.
How They Work
Most work very similarly, where you choose the script or web app you wish to install, fill out a brief form with basic settings, and click the Install button. The script is then installed for you, typically instantly, and you are provided with login information for your script.
Most script installation utilities have a web-based interface that you can access via your favorite browser, and are usually located in your web hosting control panel. While most are web-based, some are software based, and run on your local desktop computer.

All of the above are server-based utilities that have a web-based interface, except for Microsoft WebMatrix, which is installed on your local computer.
